Acid Etching/ Pavilion

The perfect outdoor solution

Our Process

Acid etching also referred to as a ‘Pavilion finish’ is a process that involves the removal of the surface cement to expose the colour and texture hidden below. Following this, a diluted hydrochloric acid formula is applied to etch the concrete.

The acid etching finish achieves an attractive look that is similar in appearance to a traditional exposed aggregate driveways, with the added advantages of being comfortable to walk on in bare feet, as the aggregate is either ground flat or only slightly exposed.

Acid etching is easy to clean and maintain as it doesn’t trap dirt in it like exposed aggregate.

The process produces a non-slip finish naturally, so it is the perfect finish for outdoor areas including driveways, pathways, pool surrounds and alfresco areas.

It is a specialised process requiring experienced installers and specialised equipment. This process can be carried out on new and old concrete; however, the surface must meet specifics standards, and should never be attempted yourself.
